Essential oil and soy wax information

When deciding on the ingredients for making candles it was very important that they did not come at a cost to either the health and wellbeing of the individual enjoying the candle, or to the environment. For that reason The lavender House is proud to use 100% sustainably grown natural soy wax and 100% natural aromatherapy grade essential oils.
What is soy wax?
Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of the soy bean. After harvesting the beans they are cleaned, separated and rolled in to flakes. The oil is then extracted and hydrogenated, resulting in the wax having a soft milk white opaque appearance. The wax is 100% biodegradable, so any residue left once you have finished your candle can be put in to your compost bin. It is a clean burning wax which releases no known carcinogens, pollutants or toxins into the air.
Soy wax has a low melting point which translates into cooler burning candles and faster scent dispersion. The lower melting point of soy wax results in larger size of a liquid pool around the wick. It is from this liquid pool that the essential oils evaporate in to the atmosphere, hence giving off their scent. Using a soft wax that bonds well with oils and melts at a low temperature means that you will smell the same fragrance from the first burn till the last.
Why use essential oils?
Aromatherapy has existed since the beginning of civilisation. Essential oils that are extracted from aromatic plants have been proven to enhance health, beauty and general well being. I have used 100% pure natural essential oils in each of the candles in the range. They have been chosen for their clean, classic fragrances that blend beautifully when combined together. They appeal to women, men and children. They each have an abundance of health benefits, which go hand-in-hand with living a natural, healthy lifestyle.
