The story so far
After nearly two decades of travelling the world as cabin crew, being a brand ambassador and living a champagne lifestyle on lemonade money, redundancy hit hard leaving Jennifer feeling like her wings had been clipped.
2020 brought a collective grief that life was never going to be be the same again. Along with the shock and sadness the rest of the world was feeling, Jennifer was also experiencing her own personal realisation, one where she needed to figure a few things out.
What skills did she have? What is her identity? How do you validate yourself?
And… will she ever be invited to dinner parties again when the stories run out?!
The journey that the last few years has taken her on, has been one of reflection, to trust herself, to recognise her skills and learn how to frame them. Acknowledging it’s ok to be scared because in her fresh new world, she had to rely on being herself for the first time. No set role, no uniform, no name badge to hide behind; although you will still see her in pearls with classic red lips and nails, even in her Lavender garden!
Jennifer is the founder of The Lavender House; a grower and maker of all things Lavender related, she holds garden tours, runs creative workshops, attends pop ups, is writing her first book and feels extremely privileged to be invited to attend events as a Key Note Speaker.
Talks available to suit your event
Life behind the first class curtain
Luckily, Jennifer kept a journal of every trip she was part of. Whether a quick three day New York or an eleven day Australia, it’s all there! Drawing on these diary entries she is able to retell what really went on behind the first class curtain! Story telling from over 70 countries of adventure, fun, learning to follow your gut and everything in between.
Also covering themes of; Women in aviation, Cabin Crew training, customer service expertise, resilience, adaptability, decision making under pressure, unexpected realities of the Cabin Crew role and being part of a “one world community”.
Each talk is bespoke to accommodate the room, event purpose, location and audience type, ensuring it is tailored to suit your needs.
My Lavender Growing Journey
Join Jennifer and hear all about her growing journey through three gardens and how that transferred in to becoming a Lavender grower and Founder of The Lavender House. Learn how to choose, plant, care and propagate Lavender. Followed with tips on how and when to cut, successful drying methods and troubleshooting queries. All this in the hope of keeping a dense plant, which produces an abundance of flowers and gives a second life to the flower heads. Jennifer will explain how using Lavender’s natural beauty and fragrance she then makes a range of home and self care lifestyle items.
These items can be purchased after the talk. Cash or card accepted.
Jennifer’s workshop and experimental Lavender garden is based in a small Bedfordshire village. It is there that she hosts garden tours and creative workshops.
When life grounds you - grow!
What has followed on from these talks is that Jennifer’s own story of growth and change has led her to attend speaker days offering insights on how she kept focused, let go of the imposter syndrome and reimagined a life for herself after her dream job ended.
In this talk Jennifer covers topics such as;
Clarity of identity – Who are you without job title, role label? How can you recognise your worth and not be pushed along to fit in to other peoples ready made moulds of who or what you should be.
Friendship – Would I find my people? Are they the same people who had previously judged me for leaving my children to go to the other side of the world for work?
Confidence through uncertainty – Learning to trust yourself, no one is going to believe or trust in you, if you don’t!
Permission to start again – Let go of what was and embrace what could be. Realising that you do not need permission to give something a go or to be the person you want to be. Life is not static and neither are we. It can be embarrassing to try something new but that’s better than the alternative of never knowing.
Reframe loss in to opportunity – Seeing setbacks as a beginning, not an end but also be clear of how you are validating yourself. What are your motivations. Don’t get side tracked! Yes there is the pressure to earn but at what cost?
Create a self help tool kit – not just inspiration – real ways to move forward – My lifestyle changed at the same time as peri menopause hit. For a while I wasn’t really sure what I was navigating, so took some time to really tune in and listen to my body. Find your areas to work on and place them, to face them. Do one thing if it is all you can face that day, it is all one step nearer to where you need to go.
